Octopath Traveler save editor is a local, offline, backup-first save editor for the Steam releases of Octopath Traveler and Octopath Traveler II. It finds save folders automatically, both native ones and those under CrossOver on macOS.
What it edits
- Money ("leaves") and the starting traveller.
- Level, experience, HP, SP and job points for all eight travellers.
- Permanent stat bonuses.
- The inventory, from a searchable catalogue of 641 entries, with descriptions, effects and stats for 358 pieces of equipment.
- Equipment in each traveller's 11 slots. Only items that fit a slot can go in it, so a dagger can't be put in the sword slot.
- Each traveller's second job (the first job is fixed by the game and shown read-only).
- H'aanit's captured monsters, by name, from a checked catalogue of 338 monsters.
Safety
- Valuables and story-progress records are read-only.
- Every edit shows the exact change, with item, monster and job IDs translated into names, before anything is written.
- A backup is taken before every save.
How it's built
The editor is a Python backend serving a JavaScript interface in the browser. It also ships as a native macOS app built with Tauri, in Rust: the app opens in its own window and starts the Python backend in the background, then shuts it down on close.
