SE workshop on EC2 is the example app from a software-engineering workshop on deploying to the cloud. The app itself is deliberately minimal, the standard React and Vite starter in TypeScript, because the workshop is about the path from code to a running service.

The deployment path

  1. A Dockerfile packages the built app.
  2. A GitHub Actions workflow builds the image, for more than one CPU architecture through QEMU and Buildx, and pushes it to Amazon's container registry (ECR).
  3. An ECS task definition in the aws folder runs the container on AWS EC2, with logs sent to CloudWatch.
