Java 2D game engine

Article
From Chaipat's knowledge graph

Java 2D game engine is a small 2D game engine in Java, built with Gradle. Its plan, kept in TODO.md, lays out an engine in layers:

  • Core: a Game class that owns the game state (running, paused, in a menu) and a GameLoop that keeps a steady frame rate and measures time between frames.
  • Graphics: a renderer for sprites and text, sprites with position and size, and a texture manager that loads and caches images.
  • Game objects and the systems that update them.

DIRECTORY.txt maps the source tree, and gradle jar packages the engine as a runnable JAR.
