HELLOWORLD

From Chaipat's knowledge graph

HELLOWORLD collects "Hello, World!" programs in several languages (C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript and Python) for beginners comparing how each language starts a program. A Makefile builds and runs each one.

The README also covers the edge cases. Nearly every programming language can say "Hello, World!", but not always by printing it: in SQL the closest thing is a query, SELECT 'Hello, World!';, which returns the text rather than printing it. And some languages can't at all, because they aren't programming languages: HTML is markup. It credits Brian Kernighan's 1978 C example, the program's best-known form.
