ANSIX is an Ansible project for configuring Linux servers, with the ability to create the servers themselves on AWS EC2 EC2 first.

Design

  • Roles split the work into modules: a base system, SSH, Nginx, deployment of an application, provisioning, and AWS.
  • Several distributions: Ubuntu and Debian as well as RHEL, CentOS and Amazon Linux.
  • Tags let you run only some roles.
  • Security: proper file permissions and access control throughout.
  • Commands: a Makefile wraps the common tasks, make run for local machines and make aws-deploy to create and configure EC2 instances.
